Goblin Raid is a text-based online multiplayer real-time raiding game I made for the Game Maker's Toolkit Game Jam of 2019.

  • Combo your only attack wisely with other goblins!
  • Pour goblin moonshine on your opponent's face and get them drunk!
  • Pour water on their head and get them sober!
  • Break their knees so your goblin friends can reach to bite them in the face!
  • Burn their shield so they can't defend against the horde!
  • Curse a sorcerer so bad they mess up their spells!
  • Lord over other goblins with your killstreak!
  • Hyperbole!

Jam theme

The theme of the jam was "only one". Here's how I interpreted it in Goblin Raid:

  • Every player controls only one goblin of the horde
  • That goblin knows only one attack skill
  • Which the player can perform only once per enemy
  • They can choose only one body part of the enemy to perform it on
  • And which they can use only once before it is switched out the next round (though sometimes to the same one, didn't have time to ensure no repeats)
  • There's only one raid going on at any time; only one enemy at a time too

Note that the game is better with multiple players as more attack skills are unlocked with each player.

If nobody is online, you can open the game in multiple browser tabs and try to handle playing multiple goblins at once.

Didn't anticipate that itch.io wouldn't allow me to just link to the game or that the networking library I used would by default disable iframes.

Might look into making a separate client page and hosting that on itch.io rather than this weird hoop jumping method of getting to the game.

But for now the jam requires that the game be on itch.io and this is the only way to make it show up on the browser-playable category ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
